What is Homecare?

Homecare is a service that permits patients to receive cost-effective personalized care, maintaining their quality of life in the privacy and comfort of their home. Staying in one’s home can: quicken recovery from an illness, assist with daily living needs, and improve the quality of life for both patient and family caregiver.

The skilled care must be medically necessary as determined by a physician. There are many medical conditions/ illnesses that previously required hospitalization or long-term care that can safely be treated in the home. Homecare services are provided for the following needs:

Who can use the services of Greater Boston Home Health Care?

Our services are available to all people with home and/or health care needs. Private care services are available. Here are some areas you or a loved one might need care.

How do I arrange for home care services?

You can easily set up services with us by calling one of our offices to speak with one of our Care Coordinators

What is your process? How long does it usually take to get services in place?

We are dedicated to providing excellent care to your loved ones and putting care in place in a timely manner. Once you decide to set up services with Greater Boston Home Health Care, we will arrange for an over the phone intake call. If necessary or requested, we will set up an in-person assessment with our RN. Assessments are not required for Homemaker Companion services. For Private Personal Care Home Health Aide care Nursing assessments are not required. However, if the family wishes, we will send out our nurse out to do an assessment. With more than 20 years of experience in the home health care field, Greater Boston realizes how important it is match your loved one with an aide best suited to their needs. Once the intake is completed our experienced coordinators will schedule an aide that best suites the needs and schedule of the client. Read more about finding the right caregiver match.

Depending on the circumstances, the entire process — from intake to the start of services — usually takes no more than a week. In many instances, the process takes less time

I have multiple siblings involved in my parents care. How do you typically manage multiple people involved?

Greater Boston Home Health Services believes that good communication is essential in providing quality home health care to our clients. We are available 24/7 and have staff on-call after hours. Greater Boston maintains constant communication with clients and their families to ensure that clients are receiving the quality home care they need to keep clients healthy, happy and safe in their own home. For families with multiple individuals involved in the care of a loved one, Greater Boston Home Health Care will often have one individual designated as the primary contact. This minimizes confusion and allows for better organization of the client’s care.

What about pets?

Greater Boston Home Health Care understands that pets are often part of the family! Our experienced coordinators will make sure that the aide placed with your love one is comfortable around any pets in the home.

We are also experienced in working with pet allergies. Our staff will work with you to ensure that an aide who is able to accommodate pets is placed with your loved one.

Do you provide transportation?

While our aides are not able to drive clients, they are certainly able to accompany clients that drive their own cars and on cab rides or public transportation to things such as appointments, shopping etc.

How will I be billed?

Greater Boston Home Health Services sends out invoices on a weekly basis. Our billing department is always available if alternative arrangements need to be made. Learn more about Payment Options.
